Robert Schad is among the most renowned steel sculptors of his generation. Starting from the drawings with which he first reacts to the vibrations of emotional and intellectual impulses as well as atmospheric contexts, he creates complex line sculptures through welding massive square-section steel shores. Shaped by the artist/s hand, the anonymous industrial material is transformed into expressive sculptures for indoor and outdoor spaces. They make it possible to forget the force of gravity of iron as a material and move viewers to follow the in part gestural, in part constructive line-movements in space. The catalogue documents the new site-specific works that Robert Schad, who was born in Ravensburg in 1953, has created for the Kunstmuseum Ravensburg as well as his beginnings in his native city. Exhibition: Kunstmuseum Ravensburg, Germany (25.02-11.06.2017).
