A DRAMA OF DREAMS AND DESIRES
The Glass Menagerie was Tennessee Williams's first dramatic success. Though he went on to write such unforgettable plays as A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, it remains in the minds of many his most moving masterpiece, his most perfectly wrought The story of a mother, her son and daughter, and her daughter's suitor, it brings to life human beings who cling to a dream world that can so easily be shattered into jagged pieces, as illusion is destroyed by reality. One of the great dramas of the American stage is now one of the most remarkable films of our time.
