Colour wood-engraved plates are unsigned and withouit imprint. Plates include areas printed in colour with metal.
Plates (with some minor alterations) are the same as those used in another edition of this title published [between 1868 and 1871] in the same series by Frederick Warne & Co. Plates in this edition are printed by Kronheim & Co. See McLean T 0063.

"Aunt Louisa" was a pseudonym of Laura Valentine, general editor of Warne's publishing house, who possibly wrote most of the verses of text for this series of toy books. Cf. St. John, Judith. Osborne collection of early children's books, vol. I.
MASS copy: In original pink printed paper wrappers. Upper wrapper with titling and full-page wood-engraved illustration replicated from the text. Upper wrapper includes numbering "16" and imprint:: "Kronheim & Co., London.". Lower wrapper printed with publisher's advertisements listing titles in "Aunt Louisa's London Toy-Books", the list including "16. Pussy's London Life".
