Ascribed to John Bodenham, who probably projected the work and befriended the editor, the "A. B." (as yet unidentified) who signed the dedication and prefatory sonnet in the first ed. More recent authorities ascribe the work to "L. N." who signs the preface, "L. N." being the transposed initials of Nicholas Ling. Cf. Dict. nat. biog.
