Dinotopia is a series of Hugo-winning illustrated picture books written and painted by James Gurney, describing a lost island where dinosaurs survived and live in harmony with shipwrecked humans.
Between 1995 and 2002, eighteen adventure chapter books for young readers were written by a number of well-known fantasy and science fiction authors, including Scott Ciencin, Midori Snyder, John Vornholt, Gene De Weese, Peter David, Mark A. Garland, Don Glut, Brad Strickland, Cathy Hapka, and Alan Dean Foster.
