Sleazy Pulp Novels

"Sleazy Pulp" refers to novels that were published in the years of 1940-1970's. Which many consider, the "Bodice Ripper" of its time.
These books run a wide gamut of genres- Detective stories, Pulp Fiction, Romance, through Erotica. Many, whilst would not be considered erotica today, did lean towards the more suggestive side, then what was acceptable during the time period. Yet, many were less suggestive then a 1980's "bodice ripper".

Many of these books were "underground" due to the pushback from the United States Government for "immorality". Many were banned or labeled indecent. Hence, most are written under pen names.

According to "Vintage Sleeze" many of these books were groundbreaking in their day, either by breaking taboos about same sex or mixed race relationships, or by financing & launching the careers of well known writers who would later become famous under their real names.

Most of these are not considered "romance" in the strictest sense of the word, due to the lack of HEA (Happily Ever After) or due to the "romance" being a secondary plot.

Sleazy pulp encompasses a wide genre. Many readers feel hardcore pulp erotica also belongs in this genre. Yet, for this collection I have tried not to include those which would be considered "Erotica" in present day.

For Romance novels for years 1980-2000's there is a "Bodice Ripper" collection.
For Romance novels for years 2000's and on, there is a "Dark Romance" collection.
