Larry Mark Goldstein is an independent US patent attorney based in the United States and Israel. He is one of the members of the external IP strategy team at GreyB and has been associated with GreyB for the past two years in the evaluation of patents. Larry holds a B.A. from Harvard College, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. He is admitted to the bar in Illinois and in Israel, and he is a patent attorney registered with the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
Larry is an expert in the review of patent quality, particularly concerning possible infringement and the value of patents for out-licensing. He is also an expert in aggregated patent licensing through patent pools, having created the essentiality evaluation procedure for the W-CDMA 3G patent pool.
He has organized seminars and delivered many talks throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States on topics such as Wideband CDMA technology and wireless communication systems, licensing patent rights and license contracts, alternative methods of monetizing Intellectual Property, and the definition of FRAND (“Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory”) in patent licensing cases. Larry was quoted in the Wall Street Journal in an article about the effects of a WiMAX patent pool on licensing patent rights for 4G cellular communication. He has served as an expert witness in multiple litigations on behalf of Nokia Corporation, Broadcom Corporation, and Samsung Electronics on issues related to FRAND licensing and patent claim essentiality.
