Blance Saunders was born and raised in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick. She received a degree in Animal Husbandry, then became a dog groomer. She established Carillon Kennels in Bedford, New York, where she bred Standard French Poodles. Her first and most successful book was Training You to Train Your Dog (1946).
